Tours and Talks

Our program of tours and talks are a great way to enhance your AGWA experience.

Whether you’re a first-time visitor who wants an introduction to AGWA or a returning visitor who is looking for a deeper understanding of the collection, our program of tours and talks are a great way to enhance your AGWA experience.

The Art Gallery has a dedicated team of Voluntary Gallery Guides who invite you to look closely and feel deeply about the works of art on display.

During exhibitions, you can meet curators, artists and visiting creatives and listen as they speak about their work, process and inspiration.

To see what talks and tours are currently on visit our What's on section.

Tours and Workshops for People Living with Dementia

The Art Gallery of WA's Art and Memories guided tours and Artistic Adventures workshops assist people living with dementia, and their carers or primary support network, to challenge their condition and help develop a creative mind.

Art and Memories is a specialised tour program created in 2012 by Jackie Lewis, Art Therapist at Alzheimer’s Australia, and the Art Gallery of WA. Provided throughout the year by AGWA's Voluntary Gallery Guides (VGGs), these guided tours allow participants to discover how works of art can encourage conversation, contribute knowledge, engage in interpretation, express emotions and recall memories.

The tours delivered by Alzheimer’s Association WA-trained VGGs, and the Artistic Adventures workshops form part of the Gallery's commitment to disability access and inclusion and are currently facilitated by non-for-profit association Mind the Change.

AGWA welcomes enquiries from groups and organisations about services for people living with dementia and those living with other accessibility needs. Please email educate@artgallery.wa.gov.au for information, details and bookings.
